Mullin, Students Rally for Lowering the Voting Age
(Sacramento) – Assembly Speaker pro Tem Kevin Mullin (D-San Mateo) joined students and elected officials at a State Capitol news and rally to support Assemblymember Evan Low’s proposal to lower the voting age from 18 to 17 in California (ACA 10). The press conference and rally was part of a Capitol Day in which over 30 Youth Commissioners from six Bay Area cities learned about the legislative process and met with their state representatives. “This is not a partisan issue,” said Assemblymember Mullin. “Young people are moving towards no party affiliation so the key is to get young people engaged.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
