Mullin Resolution Declares March Irish American Heritage Month in California

(Sacramento) – The State Assembly, led by Assembly Speaker pro Tem Kevin Mullin (D-San Mateo), welcomed a number of Irish leaders to the Assembly chambers on March 15, 2018. Assemblymember Mullin authored Assembly Concurrent Resolution 178 which designates March 2018 as Irish American Heritage Month in honor of the many contributions that Irish Americans have made to the country and California. “Irish Americans have also played an important role in California politics…in fact, Governor Brown has just been inducted into the Irish-American Hall of Fame for his many contributions,” said Assemblymember Mullin, With the issue of immigration so much in the news today, Assemblymember Mullin noted that Irish Americans initially faced prejudice and discrimination upon first arriving in the U.S. Here’s more of the 2018 Irish American Heritage Month Celebration, including the Irish dancers who performed that day in this Assembly Access video.
