(SACRAMENTO) – Assemblymember Kevin Mullin (D-San Mateo) today was sworn in as the new representative to the 22nd Assembly District that encompasses northern and central San Mateo County. The ceremony was held on the Assembly Floor in the State Capitol at noon.
“I am truly honored to be given this opportunity,” said Mullin. “To my constituents – I am proud to be your representative –do not hesitate to contact my office for assistance on legislative or other matters.”
Citing high unemployment in California, Assemblymember Mullin promised to do everything within his power to create jobs in the district. “Like the rest of California, the 22nd Assembly District has not been immune to the sluggish economy. We need more jobs now and we must encourage innovative industries like biotechnology and high tech to expand in California,” said Mullin.
While job creation is Mullin’s first priority, he said he will also focus on encouraging sustainable regional planning and balancing the budget in a fiscally responsible manner, while working in a bipartisan way to reform governance.
The oath of office was administered by the Honorable, Mary Lou Villar de Longoria, Judge, Los Angeles Superior Court.
