AB 214 – Reinstates funding for spinal cord injury (SCI) research in California that historically has leveraged over 5 times the amount in non-state funds for research grants at California research institutions. AB 214 appropriates one-time funding of $5m to the Roman Reed Program pursuant to the Roman Reed Spinal Cord Injury Research Act of 1999.
AB 1315 - Mental Health Funding: establishes a grant program, overseen by the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission, to provide funding to counties for programs to provide services to individuals experiencing early psychotic symptoms and to respond with evidence based intervention and treatment.
AB 88 (Nazarian) – Nowruz Day: Requires the Governor to annually to proclaim the day of the astronomical Northward equinox, which usually occurs on March 20 or the following day, as “Nowrūz Day”.
AB 45 – Household Hazardous Waste: Coordinates with local governments, producers of HHW products and CalRecycle to adopt model ordinances for a comprehensive program for the collection of household hazardous waste.
AB 516 – Temporary Tags: Requires the Department of Motor Vehicles to establish a temporary license plate program, similar to that in effect in over a dozen states, so that all vehicles sold in California without plates receive a temporary license plate at the point of sale.
