While teenagers make up just 6.9 percent of the total number of drivers in the United States, they account for 14 percent of all fatal vehicle-related injuries, according to Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety (AHAS). That is why it is so important to engage with teenagers graduating from high school about the need for a sober graduation.
Local high schools are getting involved as well.
Since the sober graduation campaign was established in 1985, the number of young drivers involved in alcohol-related collisions during the month of June has declined dramatically. But we can do more.
