Speaker pro Tem Mullin’s Statement on the 2018-19 State Budget

For Immediate Release - June 14, 2018 - 916-319-2022 (W)

Sacramento – “Today, the California State Legislature passed its eighth on-time balanced budget in as many years. As Speaker pro Tem and a member of the Assembly Budget Committee, I am proud of the hard work done by all of the budget sub-committees, the two house conference committees in cooperation with Governor Brown and his staff.

The 2018-19 budget is fiscally prudent. The contributions this budget allocates to the Rainy Day fund brings its total to the maximum of $16 billion. This budget also creates a new reserve fund, the Budget Deficit Savings Account which was first proposed in the Assembly, providing even more savings to help us ride out future economic downturns.

Speaker pro Tem Mullin’s Statement on Governor Brown’s Revised Budget

“Governor Brown’s revised budget reflects his trademark inclination to save and his commitment to leave the most responsible budget he can to the next Governor. I am pleased to see that the revised budget addresses the effects of poverty by expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit, health care funding, along with increases in child care and early education provider rates.

Mullin Bill Takes on Disclosure Requirements in Social Media Political Ads

(Sacramento) - Speaker pro Tem Kevin Mullin is taking aim at the disclosure requirements in social media political ads in 2018.  AB 2188, the Social Media DISCLOSE Act, seeks to extend rules that apply to other forms of media, by requiring the disclosure of the true funders of political ads presented on social media.

“We need to do more on the social media side to identify who is actually paying for political ads on the various platforms,” Mullin said.
